Apple will Release iOS 16.3 new update next week. This update entered beta testing last December and brings a number of changes and new features.
Apple confirmed the release date of this iOS 16.3 update as well as announced a number of ways the company will celebrate Black History Month in 2023. For your information, Black History Month is known as a historic day for African Americans. Its when they received recognition from the US and Canadian governments for the first time.
The initiative to celebrate Black History Month, which is commemorated on February 1, 2023. It’s celebrated by Apple with the presence of new Unity wallpapers. For the iPhone and the look of Unity for the Apple Watch via the iOS 16.3 update.
They said that these two things require that the user’s Apple Watch be running watchOS 9.3 and the iPhone be running iOS 16.3.
This update is currently in beta testing, but the company says everything will be available in the “next week” update.
- The Unity 2023 watch face will be available next week and will require a Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 9.3 and an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16.3 or an iPhone SE gen 2 or later running iOS 16.3.
- New Unity iPhone lock screen wallpapers will be available next week, requiring an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16.3.
Changes and New Features in Release iOS 16.3
Apart from Black History Month, iOS 16.3 also includes some other changes and features its new Release. What are they
- Security Keys for Apple ID
- With the iOS 16.3 update, users can use hardware security keys as a second layer of authentication for their Apple ID.
- Modifications to the way Call with Hold for Emergency SOS works
- The iPhone will now wait until the user releases the button to call emergency services, even after a countdown.
- iOS 16.3 beta 2 guides users on how to use Handoff from iPhone to HomePod.
Minor Changes
As seen above, the iOS 16.3 Release update is relatively minor with not too many changes in features for iPhone users. This isn’t too surprising, considering that the iOS 16.3 update isn’t yet in beta testing like it used to be.
After iOS 16.3 was released, many iPhone fans hoped that Apple would soon do beta testing of iOS 16.4. Other features to look forward to include Apple Card Savings Account, Apple Pay Later, Apple Music Classical, and Advanced Data Protection for iCloud outside the United States market.
How to Update iOS 16
If your device can update iOS, all you have to do is follow the steps below.
- Open iPhone then go to Settings > General > Software Update. After that, wait for the update to appear.
- If it appears press download and install for the latest iOS.
- If there is a “download and install” option for iOS 15.7, you can just ignore it and press the “upgrade to iOS 16” button at the bottom, then press “download and install” for new Release iOS 16.
- After that, enter the passcode so you can start the update.
- When it’s finished downloading, all you have to do is reboot the device and wait for iOS 16 to install.
- Follow the instructions that appear while the installation is running.
- After that, the update is complete.
